Mya Thieme Somatic Experiencing Therapy with horse and equine

Many of the patterns we struggle with are not just in the mind, but in the body.

This is where real change starts.

I support the body and nervous system in healing and processing experience.

My interest in this began through both my own mental health journey and a natural curiosity about people. Over time, I came to understand that many of the patterns we struggle with are not just in the mind, but show up in the body through tension, breath, and ongoing states like anxiety or shutdown.

This led me to Somatic Therapy, where the focus is not only on talking, but on working directly with these physical responses.

With a background in Philosophy and Somatic Therapy, my work combines understanding with direct awareness of what is happening in the body. During sessions, we pay attention to sensations, breath, and nervous system responses, allowing the body to shift out of patterns that have become stuck over time.

I offer both 1:1 sessions and sessions among a herd of rescued horses. Horses are highly responsive to their environment and to each other, which creates a naturally regulating setting. When people enter this space, their own system often begins to settle and reorganise in response.

I have spent my life surrounded by this herd, witnessing their recovery from stress and injury, while they were also part of my own process. This has shaped how I understand the body, not as something to fix, but as a system that responds, adapts, and can return to balance when the right conditions are in place.

At the core of my approach is helping people understand their own system and learn how to work with it, rather than against it.
